Leslie M. Stover Middle School is a Title One School committed to helping prepare all students to use college and career readiness skills for the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by teaching skills such as positivity, respect and organization to grow wise, life-long learners. Our mission is to educate all students to be successful. The mission is evidenced by a safe, caring, and academically challenging environment. We demonstrate this mission statement by educating all students through a team effort of students, parents, and community members. We hold all students accountable for their learning with high academic and behavior expectations.
Teachers utilize professional learning communities to analyze data and provide continuous support through academic interventions. Our counselors provide social and emotional support through individual and group sessions as well as classroom guidance throughout the school year. A social worker provides supplemental services for identified students.
Stover teachers are always seeking ways to learn new and effective strategies to use in the classroom. Teachers utilize many new technology platforms and software to engage students as well as provide small group and tiered interventions in classrooms. Classes are engaging with student centered activities and rigor.
Leslie M. Stover Middle School has various programs in addition to academics to support the growth of our students. The school's motto is "PROWL"- Positive, Respectful, Organized, Wise, and Life Learners. Stover uses PROWL as our mantra to reinforce character education. Through PBIS, students with positive behaviors receive monthly rewards. Our school offers numerous athletic and afterschool activities to include: football, basketball, volleyball, wrestling, cheer, and archery. Select students can also participate in afterschool tutoring. Clubs are offered monthly and allow students to develop a talent or skill of interest. Summer 6th Grade Transition Camp is offered to all rising 6th graders yearly.
In accordance with our mission statement, at Stover Middle School, we take time to celebrate our many successes. We brought home the State Middle Level Wrestling Championship, won district middle level championships for the Tiger Quiz Bowl Team and boys basketball. Our Stover Archers ranked 2nd in the South Carolina Archery Finals for 3D/IBO, and we had 7 Junior Scholars. In addition to our school success, our students raised and donated money to community initiatives this year to include: Prisma Health Breast Cancer Walk for Life, Relay for Life, Tigers Take Time To Care, Books for Blaney, and Food for the Souls. Stover students and staff raised and donated over $7,000 for our local and greater community. The Beta Club collected over 700 pairs of new socks that were donated to local community shelters.
Leslie M. Stover Middle School continues to be committed to our mission statement: To educate all students to be successful. Embedded in this commitment are our beliefs:
