Greer Middle School’s mission is to empower students to become independent, productive learners who exemplify good character. During the 2023-24 school year, 91 students earned high school credit in English I, Algebra I, and Spanish I.
Extracurricular activities for GMS students include seven sports teams, visual and performing arts opportunities, Student Council, Beta Club, Yearbook Club, and high school sports at Greer High School. The Beta Club represented Greer Middle at the South Carolina State Convention and earned 1st Place Two Dimensional Design, 1st Place Drawing and Onsite Drawing, 1st Place Performing Arts, Solo, Duo, Trio Variety Act, and 2nd Place Living Literature. Our Beta Club also represented Greer Middle at the National Convention and placed 2nd in Onsite Drawing, 3rd Place Drawing, and 4th in Solo Duo Trio Variety Act. The Greer Middle School Band, Strings, and Chorus Programs have received Superior and Excellent Ratings at their Performance Assessments.
During the 2021-22 school year, Greer Middle’s School Improvement Council was named winner of the 2022 Riley Award for SIC Excellence. Additionally, Greer Middle was named a 2023 Capturing Kids’ Hearts National Showcase School.
The Greer Middle School faculty and staff ranked in the top middle schools in Greenville County in contributions donated to the United Way. The faculty and staff raised over fifteen thousand dollars. This is a prime example of how giving and caring the staff is at Greer Middle.
All of our faculty members are highly qualified, and they continue to seek advanced degrees.
The cooperative efforts of the staff, PTSA, and SIC increased our parental involvement opportunities. Some of the parental involvement opportunities included: 6th Grade Orientation, 7th/8th Grade Orientation, PTSA Open House, GMS Book Fair, Miss GMS Pageants, GMS Parent University, Black and Gold Day, and Fall/Spring concerts in Strings, Band, and Chorus.
Greer Christian Learning Center provides opportunities to a total of over 423 students on a weekly basis for release time activities, which are requested by parents and supported by our community.
The school culture and climate of Greer Middle School is regarded as safe and friendly with a high rate of student, parent, and staff satisfaction with the school environment. Greer Middle School follows a model of high expectations and continuous improvement as we strive to be on the cutting edge of student achievement.
