Spaulding Middle School (SMS) serves students in grades six through eight, striving to be a high-performing, world-class institution that offers exemplary teaching and learning experiences in a safe, caring, and nurturing environment.
Our mission is grounded in our commitment to fostering a nurturing and secure atmosphere where students receive high-quality instruction. We aim to equip our scholars with the knowledge and skills necessary to become world-class citizens, guided by the South Carolina Graduate profile. This profile helps our scholars develop essential world-class skills and life and career characteristics, with the South Carolina Curriculum Standards forming the basis for all instructional courses.
Academically, we offer advanced courses for scholars who meet the criteria, including Algebra 1, English 1, and Foundations in Computing for High School credit. Our academic program is further enriched by various elective courses and clubs. Support services at SMS are extensive, including a full-time school guidance counselor, a mental health counselor, a school nurse, a community facilitator, a career specialist, an assistant principal, instructional assistants, math and English interventionists, and additional support staff members.
Our faculty and staff are dedicated to ensuring that all students are engaged in outstanding teaching and learning experiences. As a data-driven institution, our teachers collaborate regularly in our Professional Learning Community (PLC) Lab. Our comprehensive guidance program supports students in developing positive self-esteem and making responsible decisions. Additionally, our athletic programs prepare student-athletes for high school competitions while promoting good sportsmanship.
At Spaulding Middle School, we are committed to creating an environment where every scholar can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
