Camp Road Middle School (CRMS) helps all students develop the world-class skills and life/career characteristics outlined in the Profile of the SC Graduate by maintaining rigorous expectations and providing ample opportunities for learning and growth.
CRMS teachers focus on meeting the South Carolina State Standards in all content areas and use data to inform instruction. To address the diverse needs of our students, we provide small group and individualized instruction. This year, we utilized ESSER funds to hire interventionists in both reading and math to support all students' academic progress.
CRMS stands out by offering students the opportunity to earn high school credit through a variety of courses, including French I, Spanish I, English I, Honors Algebra I, Honors Geometry, and Fundamentals of Computing Parts I and II. Our college prep and honors courses, as well as our gifted and talented curricula, are designed to challenge our students appropriately. Moreover, we provide a range of extracurricular activities, from chess, art, and math clubs to various sports teams, to ensure a well-rounded education.
College and career readiness at CRMS extends beyond the classroom. We have outstanding strings, art, vocal music, band, and engineering programs, all of which compete at local, regional, and state levels. Our students have achieved distinctions such as South Carolina Junior Scholars, Duke TIPS scholars, Region IV Honors Band members, All-State Band members, and perfect scores on SCREADY. Our talented team emphasizes critical thinking, problem-solving, collaboration, and teamwork in their daily work with students.
At CRMS, we understand that education goes beyond academics. We are committed to the well-being of our students, offering various guidance-facilitated small groups to foster problem-solving and relationship-building among peers. Our school-wide social-emotional learning curriculum equips students with the skills to navigate the challenges of early adolescence. These initiatives, led by our ESSER-funded SEL Counselor and supported by all student services staff members, are integral to our students' overall development.
Connect, Respect, Motivate, and Succeed are the core values that Camp Road Cougars live by. They are the cornerstones of CRMS’s mission and vision.
