Morningside Middle School is committed to ensuring our scholars develop world-class skills and career characteristics of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by fostering an environment where all stakeholders feel safe, valued, and inspired to achieve personal and academic excellence, a place where diversity is embraced. Our school aims to empower scholars, families, and communities socially, emotionally, and academically with excellence through dedication and commitment to a growth mindset.
Our teachers continue to implement strategies, interventions, and best practices that are necessary and relevant to move our scholars academically. It is a moral imperative to continue to implement educational programs and provide a rigorous curriculum aligned with state standards and our burning desire to create an equitable learning environment for all stakeholders. Therefore, we are constantly reviewing and implementing new strategies and programs that move all our students toward new levels of social, emotional, and academic excellence. We provide benchmark testing, universal screening, and other assessments for our scholars to determine focus areas for instruction. Our scholars are provided with a digital one-to-one device. Morningside provides enrichment, remediation, and intervention opportunities during school, daily, and after school.
At Morningside Middle School, we believe all scholars should be involved in programs, organizations, and extracurricular opportunities outside the classroom. We must develop well-rounded students. Our nationally distinguished Project Lead the Way program allows our scholars to participate in robotics and other related Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) competitions. Our scholars participate in the athletic teams through the North Charleston Recreation Department. Likewise, we have implemented the Ron Clark House System, which employs a dynamic, exciting, and proven way to create a positive climate and culture for students and staff at Morningside. We also continued to support the social-emotional curriculum, Second Steps, which nurtures social-emotional and academic development, affirms diverse identities, supports courageous conversations, fosters belonging, and centers authentic and trusting relationships. We strive to create an environment of support for faculty and staff by providing a conducive space with desired and needed materials and equipment to do their jobs. We strive to be a parent-friendly school by respecting all parents and providing an "Open Door" policy for parents, guardians, and community stakeholders. We understand that students with involved parents or guardians succeed more in school.
A special thank you to our School Improvement Council Team and Student Council for their contributions to our school's success.
