The mission of SC Whitmore School is to provide a high-quality education to students across South Carolina and graduate self-sufficient learners who excel at using technology to further their understanding of the world. Our vision is to inspire innovation and create opportunities for students beyond high school through the power of online learning.
Our school’s educational philosophy guides our daily activities. We believe that all students are capable of learning and that learning must be a personalized process. SC Whitmore School is ideal for students to develop an individualized pathway to world-class knowledge and skills.
As an online school based in South Carolina, our flexible platform allows students to access courses 24 hours a day and to choose which five or more days each week to work while also enabling students to align their coursework with their personal post-secondary goals. Our school has no semesters and offers an extended school year, which permits students to balance short-term and long-term goals and manage their workload efficiently. Students also develop the skills to monitor, define, prioritize, and complete tasks. SC Whitmore School also seeks to develop the whole student, by providing opportunities outside of academics, such as clubs, field trips, prom, and other student activities.
SC Whitmore uses Edgenuity courseware that allows teachers to enhance student learning by offering rigorous content and self-paced, personalized instruction. SCWS offers standard CP level, Honors level, and AP level courses as well as dual enrollment.
SC Whitmore School teaches students to advocate for themselves, conduct meaningful research in various areas, manage their time effectively, and set rigorous and obtainable goals. Our graduates leave us ready to attend colleges and universities worldwide. Many students can complete high school in three or fewer years, which allows them to get a head start on college and/or careers.
One hundred percent of SCWS teachers hold a Master's Degree. SCWS has awarded over 87 in-house, merit-based scholarships since 2015 to graduates. The 2024 graduating class earned over 1.1 million dollars in scholarships. In 2020, SCWS was named "National Beta School of Distinction." Our students graduate with world-class skills and knowledge coupled with integrity and self-direction
