Kingstree High School is located in the county seat of Williamsburg County. With the consolidation of C. E. Murray High School and Kingstree High School, the school now serves approximately 714 students. The campus has been expanded to include HOPE Academy, the district’s alternative program, and FLEX Academy, the district’s assistance to help students who are overaged for their grade level to get back on track.
The 2023 – 2024 school term also saw growth in the area of more rigorous coursework. The addition of PLTW/STEM U lab and partnerships with the Virtual Governor’s School, The Continuum, and Williamsburg Technical College allowed students to enhance critical thinking and problem-solving skills. We will continue to focus on providing every student with the skills to be successful and competitive in our ever-growing global society. To provide students with leadership opportunities, students have been exposed to businesses through field trips, visiting speakers, and mentorship programs. Our teachers are continuing to infuse technology during instruction to motivate students to become global thinkers. Each classroom is equipped with ClearTouch panels and desktop computers. Kingstree High School continues to provide each student with a laptop with wireless capabilities. This year our students were able to prepare for End-of-Course Testing by Blitzing in the tested courses. The End-of-Course Blitz is an intense review of material that was taught throughout the semester to allow the scholars to be successful.
Collaboration and communication are essential to the sustainability of society and a vital skill for World Class Learners. Kingstree High School encourages students to work together and parents to be actively involved in their scholar’s academic lives. This year students created group chats to share information and plan events. The school consistently updates its web page, sends messages through the automated messaging system, and posts information on Facebook to keep parents abreast of school happenings.
Kingstree High School remains committed to providing students with rigorous standards, and coursework that promotes creativity and innovation, while affording them leadership opportunities, thus helping all students develop the World Class Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate.
