At C. A. Johnson High School, our foundation is built on excellence. As we approach our 75th year, we are dedicated to 'Returning to Excellence.' This commitment extends to providing a safe and caring environment for our students, parents, faculty, and staff. We understand the importance of feeling secure and supported, and we are unwavering in our efforts to prepare our students for success in a global society.
We have focused considerable efforts on renewing and strengthening our relationships with our stakeholders, as we genuinely recognize the value that results from enhanced community engagement. C.A. Johnson's commitment to our students' holistic development is evident in the implementation of best instructional practices, which include Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID), National Institute of Excellence in Teaching (NIET), and Jobs for America's Graduates (JAG). Additionally, C.A. Johnson High offers six career pathways: Business Management, Family and Consumer Sciences, Certified Nursing Assistant, Project Lead the Way, Firefighter Training Academy, and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).
Besides the core subject areas, students are exposed to the visual and performing arts, AFJROTC, student government, BETA Club, and National Honor Society. Our student-athletes have accomplished many milestones and advanced to the region and statewide playoffs in several sports.
C. A. Johnson High School is not just a school, but a living piece of history. As one of the last surviving historical African American High Schools in South Carolina, we are proud of our rich heritage. Our students, past and future, will continue to be known as 'Hornets.' We are committed to fostering positive relationships within our school and community, and our mission is to provide a unique educational opportunity that will enhance our students' lives.
