Our school is dedicated to helping all students develop the "World Class Skills" noted in the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate. We achieve this by continuously focusing on academic excellence and career development through our student-centered school-wide goals. At Eau Claire High School, our talented teachers and administrators work diligently to create an educational environment dedicated to building positive relationships through collaboration, increasing academic rigor with a strong focus on critical thinking, and encouraging extra-curricular activity while promoting student creativity. We are a Title One Program School that works attentively with critical stakeholders to develop and implement a Title One plan that contains strategic activities that support and influence academic achievement. Our unwavering focus on academic excellence instills confidence in our students and their families, knowing that they are receiving a top-notch education.
Students entering Eau Claire High School learn the importance of collaboration beginning in their first year as they become a part of our Freshman Academy and participate in the "Bridge to Shamrock Nation" 8.5 Summer Rising Ninth Grader Program to prepare themselves for the challenges of being a high school student. Our commitment to student support is unwavering, with additional school-wide programs such as our advisory meetings, student mentoring groups, Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), Success Saturdays, and the After School Homework Center in place to provide all students with the support and attention needed to achieve academic success. By using data to guide our path, we have consistently focused on the needs of individual students to ensure their achievement. We have seen an overall increase in our on-time graduation rate through our student-centered initiatives due to our dedication to each student's success.
Our intensive professional development programming has given our teachers various opportunities to learn and implement best instructional practices that promote critical thinking. Professional learning in literacy across content areas, student advocacy development, technology-infused lessons, trauma-informed care practices, and high student engagement have helped teachers create lessons focusing on problem-solving and reasoning. Additionally, implementing the AVID Learning System promotes an atmosphere of college preparedness and career awareness with an increased focus on closing the achievement gap. Our students can explore careers and post-secondary educational choices through various college campuses and career tours, alumni career fairs, and our National Honor Society's College/Career Fair. We continue to see evidence of academic growth in our End, of Course, Test Scores and our improved school climate and culture over the school year.
At Eau Claire, we encourage our students to develop in the area of creativity through their participation in the Fine Arts through our band, orchestra, chorus, dance, and theater programming as they demonstrate what they have learned through multi-discipline concert performances. Through active involvement in the expansive opportunities offered at Eau Claire High School, our students will obtain the characteristics of a 21st-century graduate necessary to be successful in an ever-changing global market.
