The past year has been like no other before, where our student body, faculty, and community continued to embrace and embody our slogan, "We are Devildogs!" As a school, we continue to review academic data and adjust our curriculum and programs to meet the needs of every student. Additionally, our extra-curricular activities have expanded and have experienced significant success. Our fine arts department continues to win multiple state-level awards. The Theatre department had multiple accomplishments this year, including the Palmetto Dramatic Association SC Thespians Excellent Rating Once Act Play, one student earning Excellent Acting and a Superior Ensemble, two students receiving Superior in Acting Awards, and two students receiving Superior in Solo Music award. The Band program had a school record of seven All-State performers, one All-State Jazz Band performer, and twelve students selected for All-Region Band. Also, we had twenty students selected for the All-County Band. In addition, the Band program had the following accomplishments: James F Byrnes Tournament of Champions Grand Champions, Undefeated Class Champions (Full Season), Bands of America Finalist, High Visual Award State Competition, 2nd place SCBDA State Competition, Superior with Distinction CPA (with a perfect score with two different ensembles), Solo Ensemble: thirty Superiors and seven Excellent. Our Student Council demonstrated our strength in student leadership by raising money for charities during our December toy drive and Spirit Week during the second semester. Athletically, we continue to experience growth in our success, with multiple playoff berths,10 region championships (Boy's and Girl's Swim, Boy's and Girl's Cross Country, Boys' Basketball, and Girls' Soccer, softball, girls’ volleyball, girl’s tennis, wrestling, and eleven all-state performers., Also, five students were named All-Star performers. In addition, four students earned Region Player of the Year honors, and six TRHS Coaches were Region Player of the Year recipients.
As always, we maintain a commitment to continuous improvement. We saw significant increases in Algebra 1, Biology 1, and English 2 end-of-course exams. In addition, we have increased our graduation rate over the past three years. We study our school-wide data constantly and make the necessary adjustments to our instructional program. Looking forward to the 2024-2025 school year, we are making the required adjustments to maintain our quality educational program in the face of ongoing budget challenges. These are just a few of our accomplishments and efforts to ensure that Travelers Rest High School will remain the best possible school for our students.
