This year at Ebenezer Avenue Elementary, we embraced the theme of "Emerge" as we took our first steps towards becoming a Leader in Me school through dedicated professional development. We embraced the learning of the 7 Habits and began strategically focusing on the systems and alignment that will lead us forward. Our approach to learning fosters student discovery, reflection, and curiosity, encouraging our learners to innovate and thrive as world-class citizens.
A highlight of this year was bringing in expert speakers to connect our students to learning outside of the classroom. This method built student curiosity by encouraging continuous questioning, research, and hands-on learning. Our students engaged with experts and explored integrated science units, learned from authors and poets by providing real-world experiences that deeply enriched their learning journey.
Our current mission at Ebenezer Avenue Elementary is to empower ALL Eagles to be passionate about learning. This year, as we emerged into new opportunities, we gathered feedback from our stakeholders and rewrote our mission and vision to better reflect our goals.
World-class knowledge for our students starts with our staff continuously engaging in professional development on best instructional practices. This includes creating and maintaining highly engaging classrooms, and utilizing small group instruction to meet the diverse needs of our students.
We take tremendous pride in nurturing relationships with our students and supporting their academic growth. This year, data from rubrics on Professional Learning Communities (PLC's) showed growth in the effectiveness of our PLCs to support student learning. Each PLC reflected on next steps as a team, building collective teacher efficacy.
We used survey data from our stakeholders to refine our systems, aiming to build a community where all stakeholders feel empowered in the learning process.
New this year was having a Student Council, which offered feedback throughout the year, as our students are our main stakeholders. We had school-wide service projects that supported our school community and fostered opportunities for us to connect to the broader community.
Our students enjoyed various performances, Girls on the Run, Lego Club, Mural Club, Art Night, and other opportunities to embrace the full child not only in the classroom but also outside of the classroom. These activities have been instrumental in fostering a well-rounded educational experience.
Looking ahead, we are excited to further integrate these practices and continue fostering an environment where every student can thrive through collaboration, leadership, and empowerment. We remain committed to our mission and vision as we build a community of leaders and learners.
