Millwood Elementary School strives daily to help all students develop the world-class skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate through a myriad of activities and programs. The School Improvement Council (SIC), faculty, and staff have worked collaboratively to enhance educational opportunities, which include creativity and innovation, critical thinking and problem solving, collaboration and teamwork, and communication, information, media, and technology.
Millwood Elementary is a place where children learn today and lead tomorrow. Our success is a result of strategies that meet the needs of all students through hands-on, relevant learning opportunities. Our dedicated staff works diligently to provide students, through rigorous standards and technology, with academic and social experiences that empower them to achieve their fullest potential and be prepared for tomorrow's world. The faculty participates in professional development activities related to assessment, instructional delivery, and lesson plan development. Students participate in engaging activities that foster collaborative learning through the use of projects and technology.
Millwood Elementary School has many clubs and organizations for students to become engaged in all grades. Millwood has its own student-led news crew, which broadcasts the morning show daily. The news crew rotates regularly to allow many students to participate in the communication, information, media, and technology aspects of developing world class skills. Student Council is another important aspect of Millwood's dedication to preparing its students for leadership opportunities. Student Council members have to think critically and solve school related problems collaboratively to improve the overall learning, physical, and social environment of the school. Several key improvements are made based on the hard work and dedication of the Student Council. The Student Council's work is aimed at reviewing student survey results to improve the overall environment at the school.
We appreciate the support from our business and faith-based partners. Their volunteer programs and financial assistance enable us to provide so many successful programs for our students and teachers. The snack pack program, MUSTANG market, and volunteer readers are supported by our community groups.
Millwood's faculty, staff, and SIC thank you for working with us and for giving us the opportunity to serve your child.
