At West View Elementary, our unwavering commitment is to provide a quality, student-centered education. We are dedicated to helping all our students develop the World Class skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate, fostering lifelong learners. This commitment is reflected in our continuous examination of school data, programs, activities, and teaching strategies.
The WVES family is committed to providing a school environment that fosters student-centered education. In addition to highly qualified classroom teachers, student learning needs are supported by a literacy coach, interventionists, special education teachers, classroom assistants, and a teacher for gifted and talented instruction. Individualized learning continues to be the focus for the school and the district, providing students with a pathway for personal growth and success.
Our goal is for each unique student to become a life-long learner and responsible citizen to thrive in our increasingly global society. Professional development remains a priority of our faculty and staff. Throughout the year, teachers participated in various staff development opportunities, including grade-band staff development, math training, literacy training, vertical articulation, and continued implementation of the workshop model across the school. Next year, we will continue to refine our instruction by examining the standards and assessments to serve our students better.
West View Elementary School, in partnership with its entire community, is helping all students develop the World Class Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by providing a positive, challenging, and enriching learning environment. Our students, faculty, and staff continue to support charitable causes to help our community. West View Elementary collected over 1000 non-perishable items for our district’s food bank. Our staff and students also participated in “Sock-tober Drive”this year. Over 700 pairs of socks were donated to a local mission house. This could not have been possible without the generous support of our school community. Our students are given leadership opportunities and eagerly participate in service-learning opportunities throughout the school year. We have a student-led morning news crew and an active student council. We look forward to adding more service-learning opportunities for our students.
West View understands the overall school community's important role in student achievement. Parents, community members, and volunteers are welcomed at the school and are utilized in various ways for continuous improvement. We appreciate the support of our families, community, community partners, PTO, and SIC members.
Events such as “Back to School Night,” “Family Game Night,” “Literacy Night, and STEAM” night were just a few of the school’s successful events this year.
We look forward to our school's continual development and the service we provide to students. We enjoy sharing these experiences on our school social media pages so our community and school partners can follow our journey. Great things are happening at West View Elementary School. Thanks for all you do!
