MED at Bridge Creek is helping all students develop the World Class Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by providing a safe, caring, and academically challenging learning environment. We provide such an environment by implementing our school vision, Every Child, Every Chance, Every Day: Partnering with our community to invest in every child by providing diverse opportunities to succeed through Medical, Engineering, and Arts immersion. We demonstrate this vision by challenging our students with best practices to reach their full potential and providing continuous professional development for our teachers.
Our teachers use effective strategies to help our students continue to grow. These strategies and resources include AVID, Project Based Learning, STEAM-M integration, Differentiated Instruction, R.O.A.R. for our advanced learners, and technology integration. We use data to plan and implement curriculum for our students. Data from assessments, including Mastery Connect benchmarks, NWEA Measure of Academic Progress, SC Ready, and other school and district assessments, including EasyCBM, are analyzed to guide our instruction.
We offer various programs integrated into the academic curriculum to focus on the whole child's development. We utilize the Response to Intervention (RtI) and Behavior Education Support and Training model, a multi-tiered system of support to help all students succeed. Through our school-wide character program, we teach our students how to be Caring Cougars. We teach our students to care about themselves, others, work, and property. We have Town Hall on the last two Fridays of each month. One week, we meet with our child development through 2nd-grade students; the other week, we meet with our 3rd-5th grade students. During Town Hall, our students and classes are recognized and celebrated for their academic achievement, attendance, and positive character.
At MED at Bridge Creek, we firmly believe in the importance of a well-rounded education. We expand this belief into our curriculum, which includes the 5C’s of Character: Caring, Communication, Critical Thinking, Collaboration, and Communication. Practicing these skills daily will help each child ensure success in life. Our students participate in engaging experiences in our Engineering Lab, Medical Lab, and other integrated STEAM-M experiences, including four STEAM-M Days, Family Trivia, Literacy, and Paint Nights, and three STEAM-M- focused project-based learning projects each year. We are proud of the authentic learning experiences that our students are immersed in through medicine, engineering, and the arts integration.
We offer many programs before, during, and after school to meet the needs of all students. All of our students choose a club to participate in during the school day on Fridays. Club offerings include Sprouts Gardening, Chorus, Drama, 3D Printing, and more. In addition, our students and staff participate in community challenges such as our Heart Health Initiative through the American Heart Association and Blood Drives with the American Red Cross. We offer Extended Day tutoring to assist students who need extra academic support throughout the year. In the summer, students attend a three-week enrichment program, SOAR. Our Quest Zone childcare program offers extended enrichment opportunities, opening at 6:00 AM and closing at 6:30 PM each afternoon. These experiences are vital in the growth and development of our students and in preparing our students to be productive citizens in the future.
At MED at Bridge Creek, we believe that the school, family, and community must partner in educating our youth. We invite families and the community to participate as experts in our Project Based Learning projects and to join us for extra-curricular activities, including our Blood Drive, Concerts, Turkey Trot, Trivia Nights, Paint Night, and STEAMM-azing Literacy Night. Your involvement is crucial in helping us develop the future of our South Carolina graduates and future leaders. Thank you for your support!
