A. J. Lewis Greenview Elementary School's dedicated faculty and staff provide experiences for all students to develop their world-class skills and life and career characteristics of the Profile of the Graduate by incorporating research-proven strategies in classroom instruction, targeted interventions during the regular school day, extended day programs, and extra-curricular activities. The general school population consists of students whose families have lived in the area for generations and whose parents also attended A.J. Lewis Greenview Elementary.
At A.J. Lewis Greenview Elementary, we intentionally create a school culture that promotes excellence in the learning environment. Through ongoing professional development, instructional research-based best practices, and targeted student interventions, students engage in quality instruction to become successful learners. In addition, teachers and para-professionals collaborate through weekly Professional Learning Communities (PLC), grade-level planning, and weekly data analysis of Common Formative Assessments (CFA).
Students at A. J. Lewis Greenview have an opportunity to participate in events that reinforce learning in the classroom. Students in grades kindergarten through fifth have Spanish twice a week. Our school offers additional opportunities in strings, music, art, and Advanced Academic programs for grades three through five. In addition, students participate in the Student Council, Jaguar Running Club, the WLGN News Show, Lady GEMS, Beta Club, and the globally recognized World Champion Odyssey of the Mind Team, which won second place in the 2018 World Finals in their category.
We recognize that educating our students is a team effort. Therefore, parent and community involvement is an integral part of school life. With the collaboration between the Parent Teacher Association (PTA), School Improvement Council (SIC), and the school's volunteer program, our passionate volunteers assist in growing our scholars by serving as advisors for extra-curricular activities and as student mentors.
A. J. Lewis Greenview Elementary will continue striving for excellence and engaging all students with experiences to be successful in a technologically advanced and diverse global society.
