Our school is helping all students develop the World Class Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by incorporating creativity and innovation through research-based practices, intervention opportunities, critical thinking, and problem-solving activities.
During the school year 2023-2024, our emphasis remained on student learning, with a strong focus on literacy and mathematics and working to ensure academic success for every child. The school continued to strive to meet the learning needs of every child through student-centered learning, research-based practices, response to intervention (RtI), service-based learning, and AVID for third, fourth, and fifth grades. An intervention block is included in the schedule to allow teachers to evaluate the individual learning needs of students in reading and math, enabling them to differentiate instruction based on the needs of each student. Additionally, we received assistance from certified interventionists and our retired certified teachers to provide small-group instruction for our struggling readers and math students. This partnership ensured our students were more confident with their reading and math skills. P.L.C.s (Professional Learning Communities) and data meetings were used to collaborate with colleagues, gather information on students, or place students into differentiated learning groups. Likewise, data from various assessments was analyzed to meet the needs of our students.
During the past school year, we continued to foster parental, community, and stakeholder involvement through the Parent Teacher Association (P.T.A.), School Improvement Council (SIC), and various school activities across different platforms. The success of our parental sessions targeting reading, math, and test-taking skills is a testament to the strong community support we receive. Our additional faith-based and community partnerships, including Eastminster Presbyterian Church, Grace Fellowship Church, Grace Church of Columbia, Christ Covenant Church P.C.A., and Barron Afterschool Program, 21st Century Learners and G.L.O.W. Girls, have been instrumental in providing support and mentors for our staff and students. The support from our P.T.A., SIC, and local businesses and nonprofit organizations in assisting with our extra initiatives is a source of pride for our community.
Bradley is a nurturing and supportive environment that cultivates leadership skills and prepares our students for the real world. Our theme for the past school year, "From Ideas to Careers….Success Starts Here," serves as a powerful reminder that success is within our reach. It underscores our mission to nurture ideas, inspire, motivate, and transform student learning into real-world experiences. We are committed to making significant strides towards our students' academic success, inspiring hope and confidence in their future.
