A.C. Moore Elementary is committed to fostering productive citizens by ensuring all learners achieve their personal best in a supportive, creative, intellectual, and culturally diverse learning environment. We work toward that vision by incorporating research-proven instructional strategies in the classroom, providing individualized reading and math interventions, incorporating 21st Century technology in all classrooms, utilizing assessment data to monitor and adjust instruction, implementing professional learning communities to guide teacher and student performance, building leadership skills, and enhancing students' appreciation for the arts (dance, theatre, music, visual arts) via community partnerships with local artists.
A.C. Moore Elementary School is located in the heart of Columbia, just minutes away from the State House and the University of South Carolina (USC). Our population includes students from various countries who receive support through the Multi-Lingual Learner's (MLL) Program. We are an Arts in the Basic Curriculum (ABC) site, recipients of the Distinguished Arts Program (DAP) grant, and our Pre-K and Kindergarten classrooms are the only programs in Richland School District One that are accredited through the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
Through the unwavering support of faculty, staff, families, students, community stakeholders, the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO), the School Improvement Council (SIC), and the Creative Arts Alliance (CAA), A.C. Moore Elementary provides an enriching academic and social environment for EACH student.
Through our school's core values of passion, intentionality, and accountability, the staff of A.C. Moore Elementary will achieve our mission of empowering and encouraging students to achieve their personal best.
