Our school is helping all students develop World Class Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate. Our faculty and staff ensure that students receive a world class education by teaching innovative standard-based lessons. Sheridan Elementary is located in Orangeburg, SC where we proudly serve approximately 500 students in Prek-5th grade. We have a diverse population of students that receive a world class education. At Sheridan Elementary our Superstars "Shine" in Excellence every day. During 2023-2024 school year the emphasis was also on developing students' person, purpose, and platform. The staff worked tirelessly to ensure that each grade level participated in a standard aligned field experience. In addition, students participated in activities such as Student Council, The Beta Club, Buddy Reading, Fall Festival, Honor & Award Programs, Service-Learning Projects, local and state science fair competitions, and state art contests, school and district level spelling bee competitions, and let’s not forget the school and district’s Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Oratory Competition (etc.,). We pride ourselves on being “Student Focused.” In which we focus on the well-being of the whole child. Students participated in college and industry tours throughout the school year.
Furthermore, there was opportunity for success for each student by ensuring students had equal access to daily tier I instruction. Additionally, students were able to participate in the following:
Moreover, students engaged in classroom guidance lessons which focused on social & emotional learning and college and career readiness. These components were implemented throughout the year to ensure students had a successful school year. Our goals were to enhance our students’ academic and emotional wellbeing and inspire our students to be productive school and community citizens.
Throughout the year, we continuously sought ways to engage parents and the community through our Parent Teacher Association (PTA), School Improvement Council (SIC) and monthly parenting meetings. Each week parents were sent a school newsletter to keep them abreast of upcoming events. Parents also received monthly newsletters that highlighted the major events. Communication is constant through our school’s Facebook page, ClassDojo, school website, and the district’s text system. We know and understand that communicating with families, students, and the community is vital in ensuring the success of students that attend Sheridan Elementary.
We believe that through the experiences and opportunities provided to students, they will have world class skills, world class knowledge, and life and career characteristics to help them become successful South Carolina graduates and adults. They will be ready to continue school or enter the workforce.
