Sue Cleveland Elementary develops the World Class Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate through student-centered, engaging learning experiences in a safe and nurturing environment. The faculty and staff of Sue Cleveland Elementary strive to develop and maintain a positive learning environment and have high expectations for all students. Data-driven, standards-based instruction occurs in all grade levels during uninterrupted blocks of instructional time. We focus on meeting the social, emotional, and academic needs of all students and creating a strong positive school community. Our staff uses research-based strategies to nurture a sense of belonging, significance, and emotional safety, ensuring that students feel comfortable taking risks and working with a variety of peers.
In order to develop the whole child, students at Sue Cleveland Elementary have numerous opportunities to participate in meaningful activities that reinforce academic standards and promote strong leadership skills. Some of these include Broadcast Team, Chorus, STEM Club, Art Club, SCE Ambassadors, and Safety Patrol. In partnership with parents, community, business partners, and stakeholders the staff of Sue Cleveland Elementary provides all students with challenging educational experiences. We share many community events including our annual Color Run, Donuts with Grown-Ups, Literacy Night, Math Night, Talent Show, Student Recognition Programs, and choral productions.
The SCE PTA provides ongoing support through mini-grants, classroom donations, and volunteerism. Our PTA Board recognizes the importance of parental involvement and they work tirelessly to recruit and involve parents in a variety of settings and activities. Effectively utilizing the skills, talents, and training of our parents and volunteers further extends our total program effectiveness. The entire Sue Cleveland family works together for the success of our students as we strive to put every child in the winner’s circle.
