Creating authentic opportunities for students to move beyond the basics and exhibit a sense of P-R-I-D-E (Perseverance-Respect-Integrity-Dependability-Excellence) in their education and personal lives. Centerville Elementary School focuses on providing exceptional, student-centered classroom instruction that promotes creativity, collaboration, team work, critical thinking, and problem solving. Students are encouraged to think independently and drive their own learning. Centerville has school-wide expectations that ground students in life and career characteristics that they will need as graduates to be successful in this ever-changing global society. We want to ensure that students have a genuine respect for others, an appreciation for diverse viewpoints, and an ability to solve conflicts peacefully. These are the bi-products of our instructional process that stresses collaboration and team work and puts the responsibility of learning back on the students. Our goal is for students to become confident, independent, and reflective thinkers who have perseverance, work ethic, and interpersonal skills commonly found in successful graduates.
Our school’s constant challenge is to ensure that all students demonstrate competency in reading, writing, math, science, and social studies, while attending school regularly, being safe and healthy, and that they demonstrate P-R-I-D-E characteristics in their personal and academic lives. All students are encouraged to set goals, participate in their own learning, and to take the knowledge gained to ensure that their goals are achieved.
At Centerville Elementary, we are dedicated to our students, as well as all other stakeholders, and eagerly accept the challenge of guiding them as they become responsible, independent learners in a developmentally appropriate environment. Diversity is appreciated and family and community are involved as partners in this process. It is our commitment to see that every student achieves at his or her maximum potential in a thriving, dynamic, and inspiring educational environment.
