Allendale-Fairfax Elementary School, is helping all students develop the World Class Skills outlined in the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by providing a safe, caring, and academically challenging learning environment.
We achieve this by using positive reinforcements with our students and staff. This year, we continued to implement PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports), a positive behavior system used by teachers and staff to promote and recognize positive behavior. Students are celebrated for displaying the characteristics of being Respectful, Responsible, Cooperative, and Safe. This recognition extends to our Student of the Month and Teacher of the Month programs, highlighting those who exemplify our core values.
To ensure our commitment to learning and student success, we continually monitor and strengthen our school programs. This year, we implemented a new math curriculum, Eureka Math, designed to enhance our students' understanding and mastery of mathematical concepts. This addition to our curriculum demonstrates our dedication to providing high-quality education and equipping our students with the skills they need to succeed.
Our teachers continuously participate in yearlong professional development sessions to increase their knowledge of literacy, phonics, math, and science. This ongoing professional growth ensures that our educators are equipped with the latest strategies and knowledge to provide high-quality education to our students.
Our teachers employ small group instruction to cater to the individual needs of students. This approach allows for more personalized teaching, ensuring that each student receives the attention and support they need to succeed. By working closely with their peers and teachers in these smaller settings, students can engage more deeply with the material and develop their skills more effectively.
Our school also continues to offer a variety of individualized learning pathways in ELA and math. Our students and teachers focus on personalized pathways for individual support in reading and math using the iReady program as well as Dreambox in math. The implementation of these programs, in conjunction with a rigorous curriculum and an individualized approach to instruction, have increased student achievement.
In order to guarantee success, we believe it takes teamwork between teachers, parents, and community members. With continued collaboration between families and the community, the school is dedicated to enriching the whole child and preparing students to be successful global citizens.
