During the 2024-25 school year our staff worked diligently to help all students develop world class skills so that they will be successful throughout the rest of their school career and as a South Caroling graduate. Furthermore, collaboration and teamwork are exemplified at Allendale-Fairfax Elementary through the use of technology, collaborative planning, differentiated instruction and an emphasis on professional best practices.
Our school community strives to provide the nurturing environment necessary to move every student to higher levels of learning by focusing on differentiated and small group instruction through scaffolded lessons. Individual student needs have been addressed during small group instruction in the classroom by our teachers and academic interventionists, and in our 21st Century after-school program. Collaboration and teamwork are essential for planning rigorous instruction to meet the needs of our students. During professional learning communities and grade level meetings, our administrator, literacy coaches, interventionists and teachers have continuously worked to analyze data to identify areas for improvement and to design strategies to increase the percentage of students meeting and exceeding targets in the core academic areas.
Professional development opportunities have been provided at the district and school level to enhance the instructional strategies implemented in the classroom to include LETRS, iReady, Eureka Math, Frog Street and other student-focused professional development. Teachers nurture each child’s academic needs by using formative and summative data to monitor growth, set goals, chart progress and celebrate individual and school successes.
Beyond academics, Allendale-Fairfax Elementary is proud to offer a range of enriching extracurricular activities that foster student creativity and engagement. Programs such as Steel Band, Cheerleading, Dance, and Theatre provided students with diverse outlets for expression and teamwork. This year, 3rd graders also had the unique opportunity to participate in a Ukulele Residency, adding a musical experience to their learning journey.
The school remains committed to academic excellence, personal growth, and providing meaningful opportunities for all students to thrive both in and outside the classroom.
