Marlboro County School District is providing a quality education and enabling all students to achieve their highest potential by helping them develop the skills that fit the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate.
As we worked to strengthen partnerships and relationships during the 2023-2024, our theme for the school year was Marlboro Strong. We worked to rally the schools and community together to increase student achievement, through rebuilding community and school relations and community partnerships. Our churches have been a continuous source of support for our students through the Adopt a Class partnership, students receive school supplies, incentives, and tutoring.
We are proud of the increase in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) programs throughout our middle and elementary schools by implementing Project Lead the Way in our middle schools. We also have a strong STEM partnership with the South Carolina Governors School and STEM 2 Centers SC. Through these programs, our students were allowed to explore the many career opportunities that STEM programs provide.
We are happy to have been able to provide our High School students with the opportunity to participate in our dual enrollment program. This partnership with Northeastern Technical College has allowed many students to grade high school with a two-year associate's degree or job-related certificate. Two of the main programs that our 2023-2024 dual enrollment graduates completed were nursing and cosmetology.
This year, the number of students who were career and technical education (CTE) program completers increased. We were also able to increase the programs offered in our CTE program, allowing students more programs to choose from. Our high school students participated in a wonderful career day where they had the opportunity to learn about the many career offerings in our area and surrounding areas. Seniors also held a college and military signing day.
Our schools celebrate the academic achievement of our students by holding quarterly awards programs where students receive awards for academics, attendance, and enriching activities. These awards programs give our students the incentive to continue the district’s mission of academic excellence.
Although the district encourages academic achievement, we understand the importance of the arts and athletics in the overall development of our students. Our GT Artistic students participated in many programs throughout the state and also held a GT Arts camp to display their talents. Our high school band students excelled in all of the competitions that they competed in this year.
Our students received many state and local awards and recognitions including the Junior Beta Club competition. Our DECA students received several state awards and attended national competitions as well.
We will continue to drive excellence in Marlboro County School District and throughout our community by keeping students first.
