Jasper County School District has experienced a great year. Our focus continued to remain on our scholars. Our mantra, “Student-Centered…Future-Focused”, continues to guide our thoughts and decisions. As a district, Jasper County School District focused on ensuring that our students received quality instruction from a committed professional educator every day. We continued to remain focused on ensuring that every child not only received a quality education, but we also ensured that Teaching and Learning remained our commitment.
The work that was accomplished in Jasper County School District was not possible without all members of our team working collectively, collaboratively, and intentionally as we “Saved the Date and Soared to Excellence!”
To this assertion, the demographical composite in Jasper County School District has changed to approximately 55% Hispanic/Latino, 43% African American, and 2% Caucasian and/or Other. The change to our demographics has yielded such positive rewards and academic improvements. This success and notable improvements can be attributed to the great educators that we employ, but also because of the amazing partnerships we have within the community. Our business and community partners are a vital part of our district. We continue to receive phenomenal support from Sun City residents as well as residents of Margaritaville via the annual ‘Fill the Bus Campaign.’ Each year, our students are blessed with bookbags, uniforms, and school supplies via the generous donations made possible within the community. Further, our partnership with the Boys and Girls Club of the Lowcountry continues to grow, each year, as they partner with us to provide after-school academic intervention support to our elementary students. In addition, United Way of the Lowcountry continues to fill our classrooms with volunteers who are passionate about helping our students become confident readers, to also ensuring that our students have books of their choice in their homes, yearly.
As we ensure that our students are excelling academically, our students are provided individual technology devices and have a plethora of resources at their fingertips to support their academic success, free of charge. Our scholars also have the advantage of receiving on-going academic support via academic resources such as Paper Tutoring, Before School, After School, and Saturday Academy. Our students also have the option to utilize such academic online platforms as MyAccess to assist with Writing, as well as iReady to enhance Reading and Math skills. The consistent use of these academic online resources are used to provide integral data to assist our educational professionals with needed information to make sound decisions. This year, our school level and district leaders worked closely with the iReady Team to review student data, and set meaningful academic goals for students and schools.
As we continue to work to ensure that our students become world class citizens, we could not be prouder of our student’s success regarding completion of certifications and associate degrees via our Dual Enrollment Initiative with the Technical College of the Lowcountry (TCL) and USC-Beaufort. Jasper’s scholars continue to reach many milestones by defying the odds because our Dual Enrollment outcome has increased from two students to five students receiving associate degrees and fifteen students receiving
2 / 2
certificates, last year. However, this year, we are equally proud of our students who acquired Dual Enrollment recognition. For the 2024 Commencement, Jasper County School District had seven (7) candidates for an associate degree and various academic certificates: Ridgeland Secondary Academy of Excellence (RSAE) (6) and Hardeeville Junior & Senior High School (HJSHS) (1), and ten (10) graduates for at least one academic certificate: RSAE (6) and HJSHS (4).
In addition, our students have taken advantage of the many pathways available via our CTE Program options. Jasper celebrated 73 students as CATE Completers.
As we continue to look ahead, Jasper County School District is showing improvement as measured by the state’s accountability model. While we celebrate our achievements, we realize that we must continue to focus on all students, and “all means all”. Jasper County School District will maintain a high level of integrity and ensure that all students have a meaningful learning experience every day, one child at a time. Jasper County School District remains proud of its accomplishments and remains- “Student Centered and Future Focused” as we ‘Soar to Excellence.’
