Fairfield County School District is helping all students develop the World Class Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by creating a positive, safe, and nurturing environment where the stakeholders work together to promote high expectations for all students. Pedagogically, the district utilizes a foundational set of knowledge, skills, and dispositions aligned with South Carolina Academic standards, South Carolina Early Learning Standards, and Creative Curriculum. Our educational philosophy is based on a student-centered approach. The standards not only dictate the subject matter but also guide the instructional and assessment strategies. Additionally, the district offers a diverse array of electives and related arts courses, field study opportunities, student activities, athletics, and mentoring groups across all schools, ensuring a comprehensive and enriching educational experience for students.
Discussions occur during annual strategic planning, federal programs planning, and the launch and refinement of district initiatives. We engage our schools and district leaders in activities aimed at collaboratively documenting specific initiatives and examples of student accomplishments aligned with each of the 13 characteristics outlined in our Profile of a Griffin Graduate. This process allows us to celebrate the measurable difference our initiatives have made for our students. Many of our profile characteristics are mirrored in the wording of our standards. Our purpose statement works in harmony with our longstanding motto, "Excellence Through Teamwork," and slogan, "Moving from Ordinary to Extraordinary," which signify the crucial involvement of all parties for student success.
