Kingstree Middle Magnet School of the Arts is helping all students develop the world class skills and life career characteristics of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by providing a safe, nurturing and academically engaging learning environment. We provide a positive school climate focusing on our school’s mission: “Setting the Course for Success, One Student at a Time.” Our school’s mission is supported through goals for high student performance and continuous professional development for teachers in order to meet the academic and social needs of the students. We are committed to addressing the academic needs of the students along with their social, emotional, and physical needs.
Teachers collaborate regularly, designing learning opportunities to ensure that each student has the proper support to achieve mastery and to reach the established academic goals. Teachers are provided opportunities to participate weekly in Professional Learning Communities (PLC) activities to promote planning, collaboration and instruction. In addition, teachers adjust their instruction to meet the needs of individual students. Students are guided to monitor their progress, conference with teachers, and communicate with parents/guardians regularly about their progress.
Students needing additional support are offered enrichment and/or intervention through personalized learning and afterschool tutoring sessions. The staff of KMMSA is committed to designing and implementing learning opportunities that require students to learn and use work-place skills such as teamwork, critical thinking, reflection, and problem-solving. Student Council, Beta Club, FBLA, Mock Trial, Academic Challenge, and Student Lighthouse Team extend additional opportunities to students to help develop their World Class Skills. We are in our first year of TLIM (The Leader in Me), this initiative fosters good character and builds leadership skills. Students are recognized and rewarded throughout the year for displaying characteristics of the habits. As we prepare students for the 21st century, opportunities are provided for students to engage in computer programming lessons/activities as a part of a collaborative effort between the South Carolina Governor School for Science and Mathematics. In addition, our students participated in a creative writing class with the South Carolina Governor School for Arts and Humanities. Other programs that supported our curriculum included 21st Century Afterschool Program, Summer Bridge, and Educational Talent Search. All of which helped to enrich our students' learning by emphasizing integrity, work ethics, perseverance, and self-direction. Kingstree Middle School Magnet School of the Arts is proud of its student-athletes as they have earned many accolades for their athletic abilities. The KMMSA Lady Jaguars basketball team were undefeated this season and earned Upper Pee Dee regular season and tournament champs.
Together with parents, community members, and business partners, Kingstree Middle Magnet School of the Arts continues to support and encourage students to develop world class skills and characteristics associated with the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate. Students learn the value of collaboration, community involvement, and academics as they participate in a variety of programs, courses, and activities at Kingstree Middle Magnet School of the Arts.
