North Myrtle Beach Middle experienced an incredible 2018-19 school year! Our school is helping all students develop the World Class Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate. There are far more accomplishments than could be shared in this small narrative, but we hope you feel a true sense of Chief pride as you read through those we have selected to highlight.
NMBM prides itself in providing strong academic programs. This year we had approximately 200 students that were inducted into the Jr. Beta Club for stellar academic performance. Qualifying students were offered the option to earn high school credits in Algebra I, Geometry, English I, keyboarding, and computer applications.
Three intervention programs, Language Exclamation and Read 180, were provided for students needing supplemental intensive reading instruction and VMath was provided for students needing math intervention. Students with disabilities were provided with individualized education plans tailored to specific learning needs.
Strategic teaching, digital content programs such as Achieve 3000 and ALEKS, blended learning and Kagan engagement strategies were defining instructional forces in helping students yield unprecedented academic gains. Our students were leaders in their learning as they set goals and strived to meet them. NMBM held student led conferences allowing students to articulate their academic strengths and areas that reflected the need for refinement.
8th grade students were well prepared for their transition to high school. Cluster area meetings were held in the fall to inform parents of high school program choices and students completed career interest surveys. This information assisted guidance counselors, parents and students in developing Individualized Graduation Plans.
The arts are extremely important at NMBM. Students from North Myrtle Beach were selected for All County Chorus, All County Band, Region Band and All County Orchestra.
Athletics play a very important role in the lives of students at NMBM. Our football and basketball teams had remarkable seasons. Students had the opportunity to participate in many sports including, but not limited to soccer, volleyball, baseball, track and field, wrestling, tennis, golf and cheerleading.
NMB Middle School is proud of the accomplishments of its students and staff, and would like to acknowledge and thank the parents, community and local businesses that join us in partnership to provide a world-class education for all Chiefs.
