Camp Road Middle School (CRMS) helps all students develop the world-class skills and life/career characteristics of the Profile of the SC Graduate. We deliver rigorous curricula and provide learning opportunities to students.
We offer numerous courses which allow students to earn high school credit, including French, Spanish, Algebra I, Digital Literacy, and Fundamentals of Computing. Hundreds of students are also engaged in Honors courses and G/T (gifted and talented) curricula.
Because our goal is to create learners who have the necessary skills to succeed in life, our staff members strive to foster creativity and innovation among students through project-based and other experiential learning opportunities. Personalized learning environments allow teachers to meet students’ individual needs while tailoring topics and assessments to the interests and needs of students. Data-driven instruction within the classroom readies students for post-secondary life.
College and career readiness extend beyond the four classroom walls at CRMS. We have outstanding strings, art, vocal, band, and science programs that compete at the local, regional, and state levels; additionally, CRMS boasts an active robotics team, theater group, guitar club, and numerous sports teams in which a plethora of students are involved. The student ranks of CRMS include South Carolina Jr. Scholars, Duke TIPS scholars, Jr Beta Club members, and Quest Bowl champions. Critical thinking, problem-solving, collaboration, and teamwork are all part of our talented team’s daily work with students!
Connecting students beyond the classroom allows staff to merge personal and global issues through learning experiences. We facilitate various small groups that cultivate problem-solving, relationship-building among peers, and multi-cultural learning opportunities. Small group exposure also connects students to various local minority leaders and an Island Mentoring Group that prepares young men and women for adulthood.
CRMS also provides an array of career readiness opportunities through which students may participate in discussions with career speakers and job shadowing. Students with exceptional needs are afforded work experience through an on-campus business enterprise.
Integrity, perseverance, respect, and strong work ethic fuel CRMS’s mission and prepare our students for college and career success!
