Our school is helping all students develop the World-Class Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by living out its mission each day. It is through this mission that we work to develop the potential that exists in every student by instilling integrity and respectable character, promoting perseverance and self-direction, and cultivating interpersonal skills and work ethic through a global perspective. All of these traits are needed to succeed in school and life and we work to offer a learning environment that cultivates this in every student.
Our teachers continue to work diligently to use formative assessment data to differentiate and meet the needs of our students. We continue to place an emphasis on rigorous instruction and assessment utilizing programs such as Study Island and iReady to evaluate our student’s progress and focus on the data. Through our curriculum we offer STEM classes, Gateway to Technology, Foreign Language, Music, Art, Current Events, Band, World Cultures, Physical Education as well as a variety of computer-based courses to enhance the core content areas and teach the whole child while exposing them to career options that they otherwise may not have been aware of. Our students excel in our fine arts programs and we take pride in preparing them to be well-rounded students.
Service learning continues to be an integral part of our school. Thousands of dollars, donated items, and hours of service were again raised by our students and provided much-needed aid to the following organizations: Hoops for Heart-American Heart Association, Belton Interfaith Ministries, United Way, the American Cancer Society, as well as local families in need. We continue to provide learning opportunities through field experiences to Washington DC, Chattanooga, Charlotte, local colleges, and Stone Mountain Georgia. These trips help our students to understand that we are part of a much larger world and we are grateful to the Webb-Craft Foundation for helping fund these experiences for our students.
We understand that we are very limited in educating students without the support of parents and the community and ask for their continued involvement as we work to help all students reach their fullest potential. We look forward to a bright future at Belton Middle School as we continue to strive to meet the needs of all of our students.
