A. C. Flora High School is helping all students to develop the World Class Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by providing a diverse offering of academic, artistic, and athletic opportunities. In the 2018-2019 school year, students continued to build World Class Knowledge through varied and rigorous academic and artistic course and program offerings. The Advanced Placement course offerings continue to advance students towards college and career readiness. This year 471 students took 678 exams. In the graduating class of 2019, __% of students passed an AP exam during their tenure at AC Flora High School. Additionally, the International Baccalaureate Programme continues to prepare students as global citizens and critical thinkers. This year 68 students took 411 assessments for the IB Diploma and IB Career Programmes. As of April 2019, Flora is proud to announce __ National Merit Finalist, __National Merit Commended Students, and __ Richland One High School Scholars. The senior class earned approximately 29 million dollars in scholarships, and graduates will attend top universities throughout the state and nation.
The commitment to World Class Knowledge is evident in the tremendous efforts and accomplishments of the arts programs at AC Flora. The theatre, dance and music departments each presented at least two concerts during the 2018-2019 school year. In December, the play "As You Like It" was presented by the the combined departments.. Additionally, the musical Footloose was presented in February. The dance department collaborated with a local studio to present "The Nutcracker" and "Perspectives", a contemporary dance concert. Numerous students were accepted into the district honor choir, district honor dance, district honor band, district honor orchestra, all-state band and all-state orchestra.
Students at AC Flora High School capitalize on the Life and Career Characteristics of Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by exceling in the characteristics of perseverance and integrity. As such, our sports teams had another successful year. Athletes in swimming and track earned individual state championships in 2018 and 2019. Additionally, boys golf, boys tennis, and boys basketball each won region championships. Girls tennis won both the region championship and the Lower State Championship. Throughout the athletic teams, there were numerous all-state and all-region athletes were named.
2018-2019 was another great year. In academics, arts, and athletics, A. C. Flora is soaring. Go Falcons!
