Conway High, a school rich with pride and traditions, has a diverse student population and serves as a pillar of the Conway community. The 2018-19 school year focused on expanding and innovating programs that invigorate and support the development of 21st-century skills needed for college and career readiness. Our school is dedicated to helping all students develop world class skills identified on the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by integrating technology in all academic areas and by implementing a STEM program that allows students to apply the skills needed to be successful in the global workforce.
Conway High is proud of the academic gains of our students. As achievement data indicates, this school year was a successful one. In U.S. History, over (73) percent of students had a passing score on the South Carolina End-of-Course Exam, with more than (50) percent of students who earned a C or better. On the Algebra end of course exam, the passage rate increased by more than (5) percent, while the Biology passing rate increased by more than (10) percent. In addition to these gains, students also experienced growth in our Advanced Placement (AP) program, which saw more than 50% of students qualify for college credit by scoring a 3 or higher on their AP exam. Additionally, the overall enrollment in AP classes increased by more than 90 students, with a continual trend of growth. Furthermore, Cowany celebrated a 100% passage rate on both the AP 2-Dimensional Art and AP US History exams. Conway is also proud of the continual growth of our STEM program, a program that offers opportunities for students in Biomedical Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Pharmacology, Sports Medicine, and Veterinary Science.
Conway High School offers many extracurricular opportunities in athletics and the arts that help students grow into well-rounded adults, with gifts and talents in diverse disciplines. During the 2018-19 school year, the Conway football, basketball, volleyball, golf, and tennis teams advanced to regional playoffs, where the boys basketball team won their first regional championship title. In the fine arts, our students participated in theatre, band and visual art performances and competitions throughout the school year that culminated in two theatrical productions, Steel Magnolias and Beauty and the Beast.
