With a tradition of excellence, Lewisville High School strives to provide innovative and integrated learning opportunities that prepare students for college and career pathways. We are future-focused and progressively preparing all students to be college or career-ready upon graduation. This year, our faculty and staff continued strong efforts to advance our students in academics, the arts, and athletics. The foundation for rigorous instruction and life-long learning skills is based on the characteristics of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate. We pride ourselves on ensuring that all students develop world class skills. Our students have had a sharp focus this year on developing their critical think, communication, collaboration, and creativity skills.
Working collaboratively with all stakeholders, our students have been busy this year with service projects, school functions, and leadership events. Student leaders established a new service club, Interact, which is an arm of the Chester County Rotary Club. This group organized several service projects throughout the school year. As a culminating event, Lewisville High School hosted the US Army Brass Band and showcased student talent through two movie premieres. In order to encourage leadership opportunities, Lewisville High School Student Ambassadors were chosen to serve as representatives for various school events.
Our students continue to excel academically. The Senior Class of 2019 received over $5.6 million dollars in scholarship opportunities. Six students earned 100's on their EOCs this school year. As a continued focus on science and technology, the Greenwood Genetics Lab once again visited campus this year to engage students in Genetics research. Our senior capstone program continued with seniors focusing on college and career readiness, culminating in panel presentations for each senior.
The Guidance Department launched the fall semester with several college access events. We started the year by attending the annual NACROA College Fair at Winthrop University with over eighty colleges from across the Southeast. All seniors had the chance to attend the college fair, a tour of Winthrop University and a tour of the York Technical College. Guidance hosted College Application Day in September where seniors were assisted in applying to colleges by admissions representatives and were given over thirty free application codes. As the FAFSA opened in October, the guidance departments across the district came together to host Scholarship Night and FAFSA Night. Lewisville High School also hosted its own FAFSA Workshop to assist students and parents in completing the FAFSA with the help of financial aid representatives. The Career Expo in October held at The Gateway gave seniors the chance to explore careers and even lead to several internship offers.
At Lewisville High School, we will continue to prepare students to be college and career ready. We are very fortunate to have supportive stakeholders that assist us in this endeavor. We continue to work daily to assist all students in developing the world class skills and life and career characteristics of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate.
