Pacolet Elementary School is located in the town of Pacolet in eastern Spartanburg County. Pacolet is a rural, lower to middle income community with a population of approximately 2,500. As a hub in the community, Pacolet Elementary School serves approximately four hundred students in grades pre-kindergarten through fifth. The school offers a child development center as well as two full day four-year-old kindergarten classes. Approximately 73% of students are Caucasian, 17% African American, 5% Two or More Races, 3% Hispanic/Latino, 1% American Indian, and 2% Asian. 73% of students receive free or reduced lunch.
Pacolet, SC is a very close community, with many families spanning over three or more generations. Many of the parents and grandparents of PES students, along with many faculty and staff, also attended Pacolet Elementary School. We are very fortunate to have the support of many area volunteers, businesses, and churches. While we value and uphold our family traditions, we also encourage students to explore colleges and professions that are unique to their interests.
Our mission, in Spartanburg School District Three, is to provide experiences and teach world class skills and values which empower all children to achieve their fullest potential. Through the commitment and dedication of stakeholders in the Pacolet community, Pacolet Elementary School continues to promote a safe and nurturing learning environment for students that provides world class knowledge and life and career characteristics as defined by the Profile of a South Carolina Graduate. In upholding our mission of providing experiences, skills,and instilling positive values in our students, Pacolet Elementary offers many enrichment activities, along with rigorous and engaging classroom instruction. These experiences expose students to critical thinking, communication, collaboration and creativity. Some of which includes art, music, physical education, computer lab, and media center classes, Art ATLAS, Music ATLAS, Academic ATLAS, Singing Panthers, Technology Club, Running Club, Book Club, Garden Club, school plays, character education, Terrific Kids, Paws-itive Character Kids, peer mentoring, Student Council, student news network, and field experiences. PES also houses a Parents as Teachers program, Child Development Center for children ages 2-5, afternoon Boys & Girls Club for students in grades 1-5, The First Tee program, Broome High School Service Learners, and Middle School of Pacolet Mentors.
Our school theme, “Sailing to Success,” was created through the collaboration of all stakeholders with a focus on student engagement and exciting learning opportunities. Through the commitment and dedication of all stakeholders in the Pacolet community, Pacolet Elementary School continues to provide a positive learning environment for students that insures world class knowledge, world class skills, and life and career characteristics.
