Our school is helping all students develop the word class skills and life and career characteristics of the profile of a graduate by following our school motto of Every Student Counts, Every Moment Matters.
Carolina Forest Elementary School had a successful 2018-2019 school year. Mr. Dennis Devorick continues as our Principal and Mr. Simon Keays and Mrs. Morgan Emsley as Assistant Principals. Many of our students exceeded the performance goals set forth by Horry County Schools. CFE Map average skilled scores in Reading and Math showed an increase from last school year. Jennifer Horne was selected as Teacher of the Year for CFE. Tammy Turbeville was named as the Staff member of the Year. The hard work and dedication of our parents and volunteers, as well as our outstanding community support enhance the mission of our school. Our PTO held various events throughout the year, which included the Panther Run, Team Dad, Family Movie Night, and an author visit from Vuthy Kuon. The PTO raised funds to build a Ropes Course to promote Team work at CFE. We continue to promote the Fine Arts at CFE. We have continued our Taiko Drum program along with a chorus who performed a Magic Tree House Musical, Veterans Day, at the Carolina Opry, along with a holiday concert, and at a local nursing home.
Carolina Forest Elementary has worked together to tell the CFE Story in a book published this year with stories from all our classrooms.
Community partnerships were formed with area restaurants, civic associations and churches to support the school. We also had several clubs at the school this year including; Technology Club, Library Club, Run CFE, Rubik’s Cube and Good News. Several students and teachers participated in the Horry County Technology Fair. In the area of technology, CFE implemented PDL, iPads for every 3rdthrough 5thgrade student. Parents were communicated with via social media, email, and phone calls and the new Remind 101 App. Not only did our students succeed academically but they also succeeded in service projects. TCFE collected the most funds in Horry County for the Healthy Heart Challenge for the American Heart Association. Students participated in CFE Panther Run and collected food and responded to help after the historic Hurricane and Flooding this year.
We look forward to another great year as we continue to meet the needs of all children.
