Chandler Creek Elementary School is developing world-class skills and life and career characteristics of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by providing a safe, caring, and academically challenging learning environment. Our school community is focused on meeting the needs of each student with goals for academic excellence, social and emotional growth, and model citizenship. As our school mission states, we seek to build leaders, learners and caring citizens who strengthen our community.
During the 2018-2019 school year, our school was honored to be recognized as a top five finalist for the South Carolina S.I.C. Riley Award. Our S.I.C presented the Chandler Creek Block Party Model as our school improvement initiative to strengthen parent to home relations and grow our community sponsors. We culminated this year-long effort of building partnerships with the addition of a school sensory playground and classroom which was installed and donated be the Leadership Greer Class 39.
In a concentrated effort to develop world-class skills, our teachers and staff were trained in Capturing Kids Heart Social and Emotional Philosophy, which impacted our school with a common language and purpose centered on building relationships with students to impact academic growth. We begin each day at Chandler Creek with a morning meeting and school-wide launch. Students have developed social contracts in all classrooms, daily handshakes, and a warm welcome is embedded as we commit to a safe and caring community where each member is valued.
Our academics continue to improve yearly as we use collaborative planning in all grade levels. The school has spent a full year working side by side with coaching cycles for teachers and by hosting instructional rounds to strengthen instruction. Our students benefit from the teamwork of teachers. They have the opportunity to apply learning through classroom activities involving project-based learning, Google Classroom, 1-1 Chromebook lessons, and inquiry-based cycles of learning. The school host multiple exposure clubs before and after school for students, as well as, participate in reading challenges and student-centered fun Friday activities.
Our school student council exhibited a service-oriented mindset to donate to locate animal shelters and make crafts with local senior citizen homes. Our school extended the vision for caring citizens with a backpack program and a summer feeding program reaching beyond the school walls.
Chandler Creek Elementary continues to strive to be a community school that ignites learning for students both inside the classroom and extensions into the larger area of Greer, South Carolina. Through authentic learning experiences that apply to real life, the students of Chandler Creek Elementary are becoming leaders, learners, and caring citizens who display the characteristics of the SC Graduate.
