This year, teachers had opportunities for professional growth in the targeted areas of Balanced Literacy, Google, Thinking Maps, Kagan strategies and Professional Learning Communities. Community partnerships, such as Jacobs Engineering, IFMA, Stack Dentisty, etc. have had a tremendous impact on our school. They are providing employee mentors, classroom engineers, and STEM events, etc. Longtime partner, NewSpring Powdersville Campus and Welcome Baptist Church, provided incentives for our teachers and items needed by our students. These partnerships are essential in allowing us to support the needs of our students.
As a Title I school, we offer many exciting parent partnership events such as Daddy/Daughter Date Night, Mother/Son Shindig, Fang’s Fall Festival, Spookly the Pumpkin event, Gingerbread Literacy, Hispanic Heritage Night, and the Spectacular School Race. Each of these events was well attended by the parents. We also provide a Parent Resource Room in which parents can check out literacy and math activities for use at home with their child. The number of parent volunteers has also increased allowing us to enhance the resources available to the community, such as the provision of Rosetta Stone to Hispanic families.
At Welcome Elementary, we believe that every student can succeed. We are grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with parents, our partners, and the community in an effort to ensure that every student has access to a world of possibilities.
Welcome Elementary…. Welcome to the Possibilities!
