Slater Marietta Elementary School is helping all students develop world class skills of the Profile of the Graduate by providing high quality educational experiences that empower tomorrow's leaders. Our facility is equipped with the latest technology tools for whole group and individualized teaching and learning. Students have access to laptop computers, iPads, Promethean Interactive Whiteboards in all classrooms, electronic student response devices, Chromebooks for all 2nd-5th grade students and many other educational supports for learning. The teaching staff participated in professional development in the areas of language arts, mathematics and technology. Language arts, and technology specialists provided in-services to enhance instruction. These specialists then modeled lessons with teachers observing to enhance the teachers' instructional expertise. Our school is trained in Fountas and Pinnell's Balanced Literacy delivery method of reading instruction. All students in kindergarten through 5th grade receive Balanced Literacy assessment and instruction. Our teachers, support staff and administration are committed to engaging our students in learning experiences through in-depth studies of different literary genres and small group reading instruction tailored to the needs of each individual student. Our student body is active in many extracurricular activities such as Beta Club, Safety Patrol, Math Club, Lego Robotics, and Chorus. The Cliffs Valley & Mountain Park Communities partners with our school to provide volunteers and mentors for many students.
