Fountain Inn Elementary School is helping all students develop World Class Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by several means.
Our school is a Professional Learning Community where teachers are committed to a collaborative process for teaching and planning. At the foundation of this process is the belief that we are all better together than we are as individuals. Another major focus of our Professional Learning Community is on-going professional development designed to improve the effectiveness of our instruction. These professional development opportunities focus on a variety of topics that are aligned with South Carolina State Standards, such as the language strategies espoused by Fountas and Pinnell.
Students at Fountain Inn Elementary continue to perform well academically as measured by our local and state required assessments. Even with our current performance we always strive to improve. Our practice of teaching, re-teaching and re-doing allows us to best measure student mastery of content. We use data generated by common assessments to guide instructional decisions and to identify content that requires re-teaching. Also, the integration of 21st Century Skills in our classrooms requires students to think, question, write, collaborate and make presentations, the result of which is students who are better prepared for life beyond school.
In an effort to best prepare our students for their future, we focus on meeting the expectations of Graduation Plus through a variety of means. We utilize our morning news broadcast to inform students about the 16 Career Clusters, as well as provide information regarding institutions of higher learning. The Career Cluster information is also incorporated in monthly guidance lessons facilitated by our school counselors.
Our students are given opportunities to impact our community on and off our campus. Safety Patrol members serve to provide leadership in safety measures. Students also have leadership opportunities through our Flag Team, Bulletin Board Team, and in a variety of roles associated with special events on campus throughout the year. Our National Junior BETA Club provides students with opportunities to serve the community through various service projects.
