Wallace Gregg Elementary School is helping all students develop world-class skills with the life and career characteristics of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by providing a safe, nurturing, and academically challenging learning environment. This environment is fostered through our school’s mission, which is “To provide our students with resources, strategies, and technology to create a stronger foundation for life-long learning.” Our focus is on continued quality improvement to complement our theme, which is “Soaring into Excellence.”
Wallace Gregg’s faculty and staff works to provide a balanced literacy program that emphasizes the development of vocabulary, reading fluency, math, and social skills. Our emphasis is on creating a balance between the academics and social/emotional development for the students we serve. Our school guidance counselor focused on help our students recognize their feelings through “Check your Engine”. We continue to work with Positive Behavior Interventions and Support-(PBIS) which provide guidance and directions to students and staff about expectations throughout the school. Students are given the opportunity to view videos on good behavior and expectations. “Be Cool” videos and Kindness Challenge activities are used along with our school-wide bully plan to avoid or decrease bullying. Students are recognized for exhibiting positive behavior through the Terrific Kids Program. Students are also involved in various service learning projects throughout the school year through our Mighty Eagle Men and Girl Power clubs. These projects include Jump Rope for Heart, Elves in Action, and Can Food Drive. Students are also given the opportunity to participate in Safety Patrol, Eagles Morning News, Band, Strings, Chorus, the Afterschool Program, and the Dance Team.
