Mary Ford Elementary School is a Title I school that serves child development to fifth grade students. We expect our students to be life-long learners through the use of critical thinking skills and collaboration. Our school community works to provide a positive school culture for our students. We use resources and programs, such as Positive Behavior Intervention Systems (PBIS) and Second Steps, to increase social-emotional skills.
Each day begins for our students with a teacher greeting, followed by a classroom community meeting. Our morning news program shares weekly information and incorporates a daily read aloud to reinforce our community collaboration. We create an environment where students can think, learn, and have a choice in their work. Our success is defined by our clear goals and expectations for student achievement.
Our students have many opportunities to share what they are learning each day. We have high expectations for our students at Mary Ford. Our community celebrations are a collaborative time that brings us all together. Each student wears their school shirt that shares the school’s expectations we uphold: We are respectful; We are responsible; We are ready to learn.
Mary Ford partners with Charleston Promise Neighborhood. They support our efforts to provide students with enrichment activities, after school opportunities, and college and career readiness activities, as well as, medical, family, and social emotional support for our families.
It is our goal to create an environment where all of our students are successful. We are very proud of the progress our children and staff have made at Mary Ford Elementary.
