Whittemore Park Middle School is helping all students develop the World Class Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by providing rigorous standards, opportunities for college and career exploration, and a focus on innovation and critical thinking. Our school is committed to providing students with curricula that is challenging, differentiated, engaging, and technology-infused. Our students are able to earn high school credit in English I, Algebra I, and Geometry. Students also have the opportunity to explore careers in the STEM field in multiple courses. Most recently, we have focused on providing students the opportunity to enroll in Project Lead the Way STEM courses including Computer Science and Design & Modeling. We look forward to adding Medical Detectives to our course offerings for the 2018-2019 school year. At Whittemore Park, we provide students many opportunities to develop the life and career characteristics through collaboration with peers, acquiring soft skills, and participating in community & global events.
Our school received the following recognitions during the 2017-2018 school year:

Four students were recognized as South Carolina Junior Scholars.

Two students were recognized as 2018 Duke TIP Scholars.

Two students qualified for the state level of the National History Day competition. One student qualified and performed at nationals and won the Outstanding Junior Student Award for the state of South Carolina.

Twenty-two students were inducted into the National Junior Beta Club.

One student was chosen to attend the Scholars Academy in Fall 2018.

Sixteen students were chosen to attend Early College High School in Fall 2018.

Our chorus students earned a Superior rating at the music festival at Disney World.

Kristy Floyd was selected as our 2017-2018 Teacher of the Year.

Sylvia Gordon was selected as our 2017-2018 Staff Member of the Year.

Teachers Jessica Reddout and Brittany Griffin presented at the AMLE Conference.

Students and staff participated in many service projects to support our community.

Thanks to the generous support of our community, PTO and parents, we were able to provide incentive awards for our students.
Our staff, PTO, School Improvement Council, and administration remain dedicated to excellence and innovation at Whittemore Park Middle School.
