Greetings Everyone! Spaulding Middle School’s mission is to foster a culture of excellence. In partnership with all stakeholders, we are committed to becoming a high performing world class school that engages all students in exemplary teaching and learning experiences while in a safe, caring, and nurturing environment. Our main goal is to work diligently to help our students develop world class knowledge, world class skills, and life and career characteristics. We will continue our efforts to implement a rigorous, data driven educational program to prepare our students for their future.
At Spaulding Middle, we have high expectations for everyone. We strive for excellence in all that we do and challenge ourselves each day. The foundation for achieving excellence is evident through our small classes, the use of technology as an instructional tool, and continued teacher professional growth. We take a lot of pride in being respectful, kind, and polite. We continue with our efforts to promote kindness around our school through our “Kindness Revolution.” We encourage our students to help one another and treat one another with respect. We have overcome many obstacles and have made great accomplishments.
Our faculty and staff are extremely supportive and are here to assist students with the academic rigor, the social atmosphere, and the increased responsibilities that come with being in middle school. The staff at Spaulding is also committed to the constant improvement of their instructional skills and the acquisition of new strategies that are supported by an intensive plan of professional development, self-reflection and collaboration. Our students have many resources and opportunities available to them. Some of these include; a library media center, a personal iPad, access to a computer lab, an assigned Advisor, and a Student Council, which is a student-led organization that has been instrumental in helping promote school spirit and leadership among students. We have a number of extracurricular activities and clubs to include; Beta, Robotics, Academic Challenge Team and a robust athletic program. Our Football team won the 2018 Lower State Championship. In effort to give as many of our students an opportunity to be well-roundedWe added new clubs to our school this year to include; Dance, FCA, Volleyball, and a Chess Club. At Spaulding, we believe in celebrating success. We do so through quarterly award programs, themed quarterly celebrations, and daily recognition via our public announcement system.
We offer Algebra I, English I, and Computer Applications for high school credit. Students enrolled in English I and Algebra I took the End of Course Exam and once again had a 100% passage rate on both exams. In addition to this achievement, our students received many other awards to include; Junior Scholar Award, Duke Tip Award, and the first place state award in the Woodworking Division competition at the Jr. Beta Club Convention.
Our school is committed to having strong lines of communication with our families. Parents can check academic progress frequently (via parent portal). Parents receive text messages from teachers about assignments (REMIND), receive weekly School Connects updates, receive up- to- date news and event notifications through our school’s Facebook page and are encouraged to meet with faculty to discuss academic progress and concerns all throughout the school-year.
Our success is a result of our students- who are willing to take risks and be challenges to achieve excellence, our very supportive parents, our community, and our awesome staff. Together we will continue on our journey towards achieving “Excellence in all that we do.”
