The faculty and staff of Lee Central High School are focused on developing and equipping all students with world class skills and life and career characteristics that exemplify the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate. By providing a safe, caring, and academically challenging learning environment, we stay true to our district’s vision: “Where Students Come First”. We demonstrate this vision through the utilization of best practices in order to challenge our students to reach their full potential and through the continuous professional development of our teachers.
Our efforts begin with our faculty. It is our expectation that preparation for the skills set forth in the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate will start with them being demonstrated by all faculty and staff. Creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and communication are expected in interactions among all students and faculty, as we understand that they are instrumental in laying the foundation of these skills in order to ensure that students are successful in their collegiate and career endeavors.
Lee Central High School continues to focus on programs and initiatives to help support student learning, academic achievement, and acquisition of soft skills. Through our technological advances, instructionally, our teachers are able to employ an ever-increasing variety of effective strategies that help students engage with the curriculum and continue to achieve at levels expected by our school and community. LCHS is very excited about our student enrollment within the Early College Program through a partnership with Central Carolina Technical College, where we have had maximum enrollment through junior and senior participation. Eight-five percent of our seniors enrolled in the Early College Program graduated with at least thirty college credit hours for the 2017-18 school term. In the upcoming year, we will continue with test preparation initiatives for preparing our students for placement into the Early College program. This will allow qualified students the opportunity to earn an associate degree as they complete their high school diploma. The credits that they earn will transfer to any public or private college in the state of South Carolina and to many colleges outside of the state, promoting academic achievement and college awareness. We will also continue to promote and participate in test preparation activities geared toward the improvement of SAT, ACT, and career readiness testing performance.
Due to our progressive approach to education and our ability to develop solid and meaningful relationships within our building, we have seen our graduation rate increase. We are also making notable strides in increasing our End-of- Course passage rates in all EOC courses. We are extremely proud that our class of 2017-2018 earned 6 million dollars in scholarship offerings, superseding last year’s amount of 4 million dollars in scholarship offers.
Extracurricular activity participation in athletics, JROTC, and performing arts groups equip our students with the work ethic and interpersonal skills required in life and after graduation. Lee Central High School’s athletic teams and student athletes have been recognized for numerous athletic awards such as; all region honors as well as regional championships. Our JROTC Program has led several community service projects, and our Marching Stallions have been recognized at the State level on various televised news stations and programs.
Learning space and time is sacred at LCHS. A structured and safe environment allows students and faculty the freedom to flourish. With a committed faculty and staff, LCHS continues to build a tradition of stampeding towards excellence, as we innovate for the future, graduating young men and women with a college and career ready profile.
