Aynor High School strives to develop students equipped with world-class knowledge and skills. We accomplish this goal by engaging our students through a variety of instructional styles - challenging our students to think critically, to teach others, to defend their opinions, and to justify their answers. We also incorporate technology in our classrooms and authentically engage our students in conversations centered around teaching and learning. Our students excel in academics, the arts, athletics, community service, and project learning. Some of our many accomplishments this year include: AHS was the only school in our district where band, orchestra, and chorus programs earned superior ratings at state assessments; our CATE classes worked with local feeder schools to produce high quality publications; FBLA students continued their community service and outreach partnership with the Shriners Hospital by donating bears made at Build-A-Bear, and sixteen of its members were national qualifiers; our FFA grew and has become the largest chapter in our district receiving region and state recognition in FFA competitions; our AJROTC cadets continued to partner with St. Baldrick’s Foundation raising money to help increase awareness and fund childhood cancer research. The cadets also created a plan of action and project to help increase student ACT scores on our campus; our IB students organized a peer-tutor campaign to help struggling students in our After School program; our Student Council organized community service and school service projects including two Blood Drives in partnership with the American Red Cross as well as launching a school-wide project to help all students feel included in our school; the WE DINE TOGETHER program was launched to raise awareness of bullying and was spearheaded by our students; one of our FCCLA students represented our school/state at the national conference earning gold recognition; our students, faculty, and staff raised hundreds of dollars for Polar Plunge SC as well as funds for the American Cancer Society and other local cancer awareness organizations; Blue Jacket Mentors, a student mentor program designed to improve and strengthen the social skills of our severely/moderately disabled students, sponsored students in the SC Special Olympics competition - fifteen student peer volunteers trained and motivated athletes from January through April and participated as buddies for the 2018 spring games; three of our Beta Club members volunteered and helped raise funds for Cam Smiles Grand Strand (a summer camp for special needs school-aged children); our student athletes excelled on and off of the fields including a soccer North/South All Star participant, a softball North/South All Star participant (and softball district/region championships), a baseball South Select Team All Star participant and a baseball All State Team participant; teachers coached other teachers and modeled effective lessons using technology through our “workshop-style” professional development sessions; and the list goes on. Our IB and AP course offerings challenge our students by offering a variety of curriculum opportunities while our after-school and mentoring programs provide students who are struggling academically with every opportunity to succeed and progress towards college and career readiness. Aynor High School will continue to set high expectations and strive to create unique opportunities for our students who will graduate to compete in a global society. We are proud to be a Blue Jacket Family. Once a Blue Jacket, always a Blue Jacket!
