Hannah - Pamplico High School is located in the rural town of Pamplico. It is the only high school in Florence County School District Two and serves as the community bridge that brings everyone together. The 2017 - 2018 school year saw success in academics, athletics and the arts. The school year also saw change and adversity, but all challenges were met with true RAIDER PRIDE.
Our school is helping all students develop the World Class Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate through our mission Pursuing Excellence with P.R.I.D.E. P.R.I.D.E is an acronym for Personal Responsibility On Daily Efforts. It is our belief that like Aristotle stated, "We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit." Our goal is to help students develop the habit of excellence.
In our pursuit of excellence, we are actively transitioning our school into an Early College High School. Through partnerships with both Florence - Darlington Technical College and Francis Marion University, we are able to offer Dual Credit courses in almost every academic content area and in our Career and Technology Education programs. Last year we introduced Project Lead the Way and were excited to roll-out our new courses, to a very receptive student body. This year we expanded our Project Lead the Way course offerings to offer even more opportunities for students. We have still been able to offer Advanced Placement Courses to students as well, with a success rate of 100% and all students scoring a 5 on the exam. We are very proud of our course catalog and are excited to be able to offer such diversity in our curriculum.
We have been able to improve our school and community relations by the increased use of technology, parent meetings, and our open door policy. We have invited community members and leaders into our school, by way of, committee meetings to help us organize curriculum and have a better understanding of what skills students now need in the workforce. We have worked to improve our school culture and climate by utilizing our Wall of P.R.I.D.E. which highlights all of our school's accomplishments and our students of the month and our faculty and staff members of the month.
Our graduating class was awarded over 1.6 million dollars in college scholarships. This included eighty overall scholarships with thirty - three being academic scholarships, three athletic scholarships, four GI bills, and one being an athletic scholarships, and forty being local scholarships. We were excited to have four Palmetto Fellows, nineteen Life Scholarships, and twenty Hope Scholarships. Seniors were able to participate in College Application Day and all of our seniors were able to apply to, at least one institution of higher learning.
We continue to utilize our 1:1 Technology Initiative that put devices into the hands of all of our students. Teachers attended professional development to assist them in maximizing teaching time, technology, and best practices. We have continued to expand our understanding and implementation of High Schools That Work. During the summer, students from our middle school were able to participate in our first 8.5 Bridge Program which allows them to adjust to becoming high school freshman before school starts. Students were able to meet teachers and connect with a mentor who will guide them throughout the school year.
