Bethany Elementary School strives to provide world-class knowledge for our students with high rigor in our language arts and math areas of study allowing each student to develop to their maximum potential. We are a student centered, high achieving school serving approximately four hundred students and their families. We serve students from prekindergarten to fifth grade with diverse backgrounds and needs. This commitment is seen in the achievement of all students. Bethany students continue to score above the state average on state testing. Our teachers concentrate on multiple data sources to inform instructional decisions; this, combined with continuous, uninterrupted instruction, allows for each child’s individual success. Bethany continues to provide STEAM activities for all grades. Students from grades pre-k through 5th have opportunities to creatively problem solve using unusual materials. Teachers receive professional development throughout the year to enhance classroom STEM experiences. Field trips for all grades remain a staple in our curriculum in an effort to provide real world experiences for our students. We continue to incorporate technology in all of our classes; core, intervention, enrichment and the arts.
Bethany students participate daily in classroom activities that are designed to provide them with world-class skills. One to one technology in grades three through five supplemented an already student-centered curriculum. Implementation of iPads for our lower grades has allowed for increased technology use, collaboration, and developing tech savvy students. Daily, in all classrooms, Bethany students can be seen learning through discovery, research, collaboration, and using presentation skills. Our learning extends outside to our school garden, where our first and second graders grow, tend and harvest a bountiful vegetable garden. Renaissance Learning, Dreambox, and IXL are additional online resources that enhance our overall instructional program. Our Response to Intervention and Gifted and Talented programs provide students more opportunities to advance their educational skills.
Our students are guided in life and career characteristics through opportunities provided by our guidance counselor. Guidance lessons are provided throughout the year focusing on character, integrity, self-direction, and other interpersonal skills. Students are afforded opportunities to become involved in student council, safety patrol, flag crew, Girl Talk, recycling club, maker space, art club, and choir. Such opportunities are designed to assist students in developing personal interests, responsibility and social skills necessary throughout their school career and life. Proudly, opportunities are led by Bethany staff.
