Oakland Elementary School is helping all students develop the world class skills and life and career characteristics of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by providing various academic and social experiences within a safe, supportive environment. Our school’s collective success is the result of a dedicated staff partnered with supportive families, working diligently to provide opportunities that enable our students to achieve their fullest potential and prepare them for the future.
With the implementation of SC Ready state standards, Oakland Elementary School seeks to provide personalized instruction through differentiation, guided reading and math instruction, and our school’s 1:1 technology initiative. We also encourage an emphasis of the 4 C’s (critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication) that includes an inquiry-based approach to teaching and learning. Students are also provided an opportunity to participate in school clubs and various service learning projects.
Several efforts were encouraged in the area of health, wellness, and social-emotional well being. Oakland continued our partnership with Wofford College’s Healthy Eating Decisions Program to implement C.A.T.C.H. (Coordinated Approach To Child Health). We also continued our mentoring program with peer mentoring through our partnership with Boiling Springs Middle School. We were honored with the bronze award by the Alliance for a Healthier Generation and the Golden Shoe Award by Partners for Active Living.
At Oakland, we are living out our mission by putting students first and helping them reach their full potential within a healthy, safe, engaging, supportive, and challenging environment. On behalf of the entire OES faculty and staff, we are grateful to our families for your continued commitment to our school.
