Conway Elementary is assisting all students develop the World Class Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by developing our students into proficient readers and mathematicians, to prepare them to be college and career ready. Increasing reading comprehension and mathematical skills is a daily instructional goal of the Conway Elementary faculty and staff.
Our teachers participated in ongoing professional development and Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) twice weekly. Our PLCs have focused on SC Curriculum Standards and documents, Small Group Instruction, grade level planning and collaboration, Kagan Structures, progress monitoring of digital content and student benchmark data, EDM concepts, MAP and DIBELS inquiry, writing, and in-depth analysis of student and school data.
Our staff and the Conway community share the mission to provide ALL children with an abundance of opportunities to excel in academics, personal, and social skills. The Leadership Team, school staff, PTO, community and business partners have worked collaboratively to provide activities such as:

Many activities have brought numerous parents, grandparents, and community members to our school or have involved them within the community. The partnership between Conway Elementary and Coastal Carolina University continues to flourish and provides mentors for identified 3rd -5th grade students. The collaboration and mentoring programs with CCU, HGTC, and Conway High School continues to evolve and bring the school and community together for the good of the children. Other community and service learning activities included drink tabs for Ronald McDonald House, Fun Fridays, Jump Rope for Heart, recycling w/ Solid Waste Authority, Salvation Army Silver Cans Food Drive, Box Tops for Education, Waves of the Future, and project-based learning experiences with the city of Conway. Again, Santee Cooper has been a very important Business Education Partner to Conway Elementary, supporting our teaching staff as well as the needs of our students.
The vast majority of Conway Elementary parents, staff, and students feel this is a safe school where every child is challenged academically, appreciated and personally valued. It is the mission of CES to continue to strive for excellence and to ensure that all students grasp their full academic potential, recognize their self-worth and reach for the stars.
