Daisy Elementary School is helping all students develop the world class skills and life and career characteristics of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by ensuring that each child receives a personalized quality education where she or he is nurtured and challenged by actively engaging in meaningful standards-based learning in preparation for their future. Through the continued professional development of our teachers and hard work from all our staff and students, we have continued to ensure success for everyone. Students in grades K-5 received daily, specially planned instruction on their level in English Language Arts and Math. Teachers met weekly to plan and discuss ideas to enhance instruction in the classroom. Measures of Academic Progress (MAP), DIBELS, Benchmark Assessments and Digital Content provided us with data to better analyze student's strengths and weaknesses. Staff participated in monthly professional development such as: Everyday Math, Core Reading, Math and Reading Intervention, Kagan Cooperative Learning Structures, Writing Across the Curriculum, Digital Technology Programs, Science Kits, Direct Instruction and Small Group Reading Instruction. We are proud of our strong efforts to ensure academic growth and success for all. Daisy Elementary students and staff participate in various programs outside the academic world to focus on the development of the whole child. We were involved in the community through SWA Recycling, Relay for Life, Fundraising for Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Salvation Army Food Drive, The Polar Plunge, Special Olympics and Jump Rope for Heart. This year we also continued to use the Positive Behavior Interventions and Support program. We celebrate positive behavior through quarterly incentive offerings. Daisy Elementary partnered with Backpack Buddies to provide food over the weekend for numerous needy students. Our school offers and lunch at no charge to all students. This program ensures all students have a healthy breakfast and are ready to begin their day as well as a hot lunch. Several teachers are pursuing Master's degrees, Read to Succeed Endorsement, as well as additional areas of certification. Daisy Elementary School is committed to reaching our goals, and we look forward to working with PTO, School Improvement Council, parents and community members to increase parental and community involvement. We are proud of the successes of our students and staff. We invite you to become an integral part of our commitment to excellence. Thank you for your support helping in the development of our future South Carolina graduates and world leaders!
