Simpsonville Elementary School is helping all students develop the world class skills and life and career characteristics of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by “Preparing students to be productive, respectful, and responsible”. The school is an award-winning school with a history of academic excellence.
We use a balanced literacy program for reading with Fountas and Pinnell strategies. PowerWriting, Every Day Counts math program, RTI program, academic enrichment, and strong standards-based core instruction contribute to students' success. We currently have a Junior Beta Club program for our fifth grade students.
Success is measured by standardized tests like T21/MAP, SC Ready, SC PASS, CogAt, FastBridge, student classroom performance, logs of teacher conferences, PTA meetings, and staff development. Our vision is to help each child reach his or her full potential by providing creative and challenging learning opportunities. Field trips at each level enrich our curriculum. We offer an Extended Day Program to all students whose parents need after school care for their children.
We are also providing a school environment conducive to learning by promoting character education and civic responsibility. In recent years, students have contributed in the community by as well collecting canned goods, stuffed animals for Cuddles for Kids, and raised more than $12 thousand dollars for the American Heart Association. We promote a healthy lifestyle for our students here at Simpsonville Elementary. The school has received various awards such as the Palmetto Gold Award, Red Carpet, LiveWell Award, and Safe Kids. One of our most recent accomplishments is to be recognized nationally as a RAMP school. A school where the counseling program aligns with the ASCA National Model, delivering a comprehensive, data-driven program and an exemplary educational environment. Our PTA also received national recognition by being awarded the National School of Excellence Award.
We have enhanced public understanding and support of our school by involving parents and volunteers in school programs such as Junior Achievement, morning math program, Family Reading Night, STEAM Night, Project Fit America, and small group tutoring. Parents have access to current school information through our website and the Simpsonville Elementary App. Sealed-Air, which is located beside the school, our local Food Lion, and the Simpsonville Police Department are just a few of our strong community supporters. We have the support of our parents and our community as evidenced by hundreds of volunteer hours each year. Being a "family-friendly" school is important to us. We will continue to keep our standards high by analyzing test data, through commitments to team planning, and maintaining an atmosphere where children love to come to school to learn.
