Mitchell Road Elementary is helping all students develop world class skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by providing a safe, nurturing and energized learning community that empowers each child to be successful. Our school mission is to offer students a quality education in a safe, inviting environment while helping them learn responsibility, self-discipline, and respect for others. Through close knit partnerships with parents and community, we are able to ensure all students reach his or her utmost potential.
The teachers and administration work collaboratively to analyze student data in efforts to provide students with the necessary support and enrichment systems needed to be successful. Instructional practices are monitored and adjusted regularly to ensure learning for all students. Examples of programs that we have in place include, but are not limited to, a morning tutoring program, Response to Intervention, ESOL Support, and a Gifted and Talented Enrichment program.
Building and maintaining positive partnerships with parents and the community is essential in the overall success of our students. We pride ourselves in having a strong and active PTA (Parent Teacher Association) and School Improvement Council (SIC). With the support of our PTA, SIC and community partners, we are able to provide our students with additional opportunities and resources such as tutoring, student mentoring, Mustang food pantry, and various student enrichment activities such as chorus, running club, healthy bodies club, special art club and Be a Fan club. As a result, Mitchell Road Elementary has been recognized as an American Heart Association Gold Fit-Friendly Worksite (2014, 2015), a LiveWell Greenville Healthy School (2014-2017), an Upstate Safe Kids School (2015, 2016, 2017) and as a recipient of the 2015 Fit’s Cool School Challenge award.
At Mitchell Road, we want our students to go beyond the classroom and become leaders in our community. With the leadership of our Student Council and Junior Beta Club students, we have held school-wide fundraising events for various non-profit organizations such as Make-a-Wish Foundation, Leukemia & Lymphoma Pennies for Patients, Soles for Souls and the American Heart Association.
Mitchell Road Elementary is a strong, family-oriented school where we pride ourselves on the successes of each child. Our school motto “Learning Today…Leading Tomorrow” is our driving force. We are focused on student learning as we develop future leaders.
